Certain people have a talent for research, certain directors, editors, etc.

There are links between certain people / a connection

But it is astounding, time is fleeting, madness takes it's toll, but listen closely

Finished final edit.

Foreword written, all images uploaded and book compiled.
Nothing like my homemade book / first draft due to time and costs, but i'm quite happy with the look of the final out come.
Has taken all day to compile, sort layout etc and now just have to wait for a week for it to turn up.

Possible book shoot

May be not every bodies cup of tea, but this was a shoot I was commissioned to do, but I just walked around with my camera and took some shots for myself.
None of the images have been edited, just as in camera - just how I like it. I took the picture, set the camera up, really enjoyed myself - INDUSTRY & CAMERA, I felt good!

Test Shots

 All the test shots were taken digitally on an Olympus OMD5, really nice mirror less camera with interchangeable lenses, but I took all my images for the book on a square format Bronica using colour film.


The jetty, where the vessel berths and off loads all the chemicals in to the pipelines.

 Due to all the flooding / storm surge and high water table the area was under nearly 5 foot of water and has not totally recovered.

 The pipes sit on what is called a shoe, the green piece of metal. This is not fixed directly to anything to allow movement during expansion.

 Another typical example of a pipe shoe.

Book coming right together, spent a fair bit of time compiling different pages, cover, inner sheets, colour etc etc
Fully motivated, excited, inspired - can't wait for friday, Kirkleatham Museum, Ian Mcdonald

But, mental instability kicks in once more - I'd love to take the images all over again, may be 5x4, mixture of black & white with colour.
My biggest problem - LIFE
I'd so love to be able to just get up, load the slides, pack my bronica & wista, walk the pipes or all the other industry early as the sun rises that I have ready in my mind (never mind the drunks in the pubs for portraits), but with work commitments, kids, family, essays, research Jees man.
Nuff said, it's a killer.

One of the first books I bought

Banksy - great artist, love the fact of anonymity, sort of like a photographer hiding behind the camera / lens, which was what I got from Lee Friedlander, using his shadow and reflections.

It's sort of where I wanted to go, hence my flickr page was KoolHandFluke

I even set it up with Companies House, bought the .co.uk and usually don't put an image of myself - until I had to start to blog.

Andre Kertesz, this was one of my most favourite images.
Blew me away. The door frame separating the composition, the banister flowing through the shadow of the vase, yet the same lighting in 2 separate rooms, the door frame and door in the landing mimicking the cupboard in the room: he just came across this?

But after all my contextual studies, after all my research; photographers seem to be just manipulators, illusionists.
Cartier Bresson, believed or should I say portrayed he had the eye that was quicker than time itself.
It's called editing a roll of film, yeah we can see what we want, know it may happen. But do you have to come out with a statement to help you become famous, or is it a Magnum portrayal / request.
Alcohol influenced rant, but I always feel; who decides?

So
A bespoke book costs money, metal, aluminium, image printed, rivet spine.
Great idea, but just not feasible.

Awesome idea - just let down with the cost of living
Few extra marks to tick a couple of boxes, I'd so love too.
I pride myself on my presentation, but just learning.
My framing may be dated, the window mounts may be out of fashion, who sets the trends.
Its photography, the images should speak!

I read a quote, "a film camera has a personality" meaning if you have a relationship with that camera, you know that camera.
I think it is so much more; it's excitement, adrenaline. In fact I don't think you could put words to it, it's a passion, a dream, a love.
If you can bring that all together in that image. Wowwww
